Literature Text

i.
While we'd spent these lives sleeping with sirens
Galaxies would push past the stars to pool in the grooves of our gaze
Resting like fireflies betwixt the crinkle of your parchment lids;
Only to kiss them on fire and peel your paper stare into reality sending embers to settle
Amidst the crease of tangled lashes.

ii.
It was within my atlantic irises that C/cancer eventually
Dog-eared down into her star-speckled storybook home.
Yes darling, and now that night is mine forever
Would you still sleep beneath me?

Edit: Came back to this because I liked it and thought it could be better. I changed the wording a little and love how it turned out! Hope you like it!

This is a little something that I've had in the works for a really long time now, and for me it's just been one of those frustrating pieces where you're really struggling to justify the emotion being portrayed, and whenever you attempt to extend past that first verse, it somehow seems to kill the whole thing.

I finally just gave up and decided to post this little snippet here. Hopefully it passes for an actual poem and not just a piece of a bigger one? To me it's really unpolished and could stand some more editing, but for now I guess I'll just let it be.
Hope you like it!
